Hi

I'm new to Exchange Server so forgive the dumb question.

We have 2 offices connected by modem/routers

main office is net 10.100.100.* and has exchange server machine, machine dials up ISP at 2 hour intervals.

remote office is net 10.100.101.*

when exchange machine dials up ISP, this machine "disappears" and becomes unavailable to the remote office.

I assume it has something to do with routing, I have tried disabling "use default gateway" for dialup, this renders the machine incapable of sending mail.

Any ideas welcome

ciao

can you define 'disappears'?
what's going on that makes you think it's invisible?

when I say disappears, it becomes unavailable to the remote office, you cannot even ping it until it hangs up the modem and then lo & behold it reappears.

it is a tad problematic for the folks in the remote office as they cannot access their mailboxes etc whilst mail is being sent & received.

the main office can see the exchange machine at all times
