Hi,
Prob a very basic Excahnge question, but i am quite new to Exchange :).
I am having a problem with the size limits on my Exchange mailboxes. Mails that are sent over 15mbs are being dropped. I would like to raise this 25mb.
I have edited the mailbox size limit on my AD account to no avail. I have also raised the 'Allowed Sizes' within 'Connector Properties'.
I am assuming there is some other global setting in Exchange for limit sizes that i am missing. Can anyone shed any light on where i could look. :)

If this problem is with outbound SMTP traffic, open System Manager and go to Administrative Groups, Domain, Servers, servername, Protocols, SMTP. Right-click on the default SMTP Virtual Server and select Properties. On the Messages tab, set your message size limits.

There are generally no limits on internal message sizes.

When all else fails, read the book!

Hi,
And think you so much for the quick response. I will check this, but the issue is with incoming mail from our mail server. Is there no such similar settings for incoming mail limits?
:)

In Exchange System Manager, go to Global Seetings, Message Delivery. Right click on properties, then Defaults.

The industry average message limit is 10MB. So, just because you change your server so you can SEND a message bigger than that, doesn't mean the other side will ACCEPT it.

If it's for internal use, file servers are much better for sending files back and forth.

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

Are you trying to say that email you're sending is being rejected by outside servers?

When all else fails, read the book!

Hi guys,
thanks again.
basically anything incoming that is over say 16mb that is sent on from our ironport mailserver to exchange.. gets the below NDR, but the worse thing is the attachment just gets lost in the system :(

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

This message is larger than the current system limit or the recipient's mailbox is full. Create a shorter message body or remove attachments and try sending it again.
