I have been chosen at my company to propose and install a fax server for one of our customers with exchange integration and desktop faxing inbound and outbound. I have chosen to use Rightfax 8.0 with some type of DID fax card. I have some Exchange 5.5 experience and little Faxing experience. I was wondering if there is anybody out there who has done this type of job already and would like to give me an overview of how this is done. I would like to know such things as... is there any software I have to install on the companys exchange server, any software that must be installed on the client machines, is the process of exchange integration tricky in any way. Any information you could offer would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Jeremy

I'm also getting the "RPCDBT:Error (2) in transacting named pipe." In our rightfax server event log. Another issue I notice, when I start the Rightfax Enterprise Fax Manager, click on the appropriate rightfax server, then try to scroll to users (we setup a local user account to have network permissions, and an admin account earlier in the rightfax enterprise software), I get an error that reads as follows: "Login to fax server *** is not currently possible because the RightFax RPC Server Module and/or the RightFax Database Module are not currently running. You can start these servers through the fax server status." Of course, I have started/stopped all services related to the fax in an attempt to isolate the problem, but have had no success. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Just like to add that I'm getting that message too, I will post here if I find a solution!

Good to see there's other poor souls out there who have to config Rightfax!)

flatfour: what ended up being the problem was the configuration of the board server. You need to make sure, if you have this setup for a win NT network environment, that the workservers are started and configured with an appropriate win NT account (select service account under workserver). Also, make sure you only have activated the number of channels you are licensed for. This should fix the problem.

thanks for the reply pfnagel, i've tried what you suggest but i still have the same problem. this occurs when upgrading the (test) server from 7.2 on NT4 to 8.5 on Win2000, no matter which I do first this ends up the result!

a question if you have 8.5 - faxstat.exe has vanished, if i can't log in to EFM, how do i configure anything?!

Make sure you've installed Rightfax Enterprise Manager - It's the new administration software for rightfax.

A couple things: (1) pfnagel: Try running the RightFax database cleanup utilities dbheck and rescue, this solved my named pipes issue once before. (2) flatfour: RightFax has issues with Win2000 SP4 so make sure you're at SP3.

The answer is now posted on captaris.com - Rightfax 8.5 does not work with Win2000 SP4 without patching Rightfax.

Rightfax needs to be patched to SP5 - that's the server and the client apps, then it all seems to work properly!
