I have a server that I'm currently installing exchange 03 on. In 6 months or so, I will be purchasing a new server to be my mail server. Will it be difficult to move my mailbox store and my settings to the new server?

Also, I have my exchange server receiving mail, but when i try to send out, I get this message:

"There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. <fileserver.mortgagenowcorp.local #5.5.0 smtp;550-5.7.1 [71.199.145.97] The IP you're using to send email is not authorized.

Now, I've set this server up on my home LAN before the install in the office. I have comcast cable. I send plenty of emails from Outlook on my comcast address via POP3.

Is it possible that comcast does not allow exchange servers on their home accounts?

1. Move mailbox between Exchange 2003 servers in the same Organization is very easy. So when you have a new server installed, just add it to current Exchange organization and move mailboxes over. Then remove the old server.
2. Many ISPs don't allow you setup SMTP server in the home network; besides, many email servers check reverse DNS against the senders IP. Si it could be normal that your server doesn't work at home.

1. Follow KB article 822931
2. It's not only possible, it's probable.
