Hi

I have Backup Exec Small Business Server V7.3 Rev 2575

I have Exchnage 5.5 on the server.
Priv.Edb is 7.5GB & Pub.EDB only 350 MB

The tape drive is a DAT 12/24 and hardware otherwise software compression is selected.

The backup job has no files but all of the
Information Store
Mailboxes
Directory are ticked

The backup takes 21GB and goes over 2 tapes.
Why does this happen when I can't imagine the whole of Exchange is more than 10 GB in total

The total server disk space, including all the files that are not selected (inc swap files) is 18GB with 4 GB free ie only 14 GB

Help please

Thanks

Hi,

Make sure that you are not backing up shares and the files in the default directories e.g. c:\program files\microsoft\ etc. If you are backing up shares you could be possibly backing up your data twice.

What are your selection?

Probably mailboxes and mail store. Mail store is nominally 7.5GB. Probably about 8GB to tape. Mailboxes probably 9 to 10GB at brick level. Add the hard drive data. Is that about right?

What about your exchange log files. The Exhange agent backs up more that you thinl. The exchang agent backs up those files. Are the log files being flushed?
