I was wondering if anyone could please give me a suggestion on which SCSI external drive to buy (cheap) to be used on an Exchange Clustering LAB. This will become our shared drive for the 2 servers. Thanks a lot..

In theory you need a shared drive for the quorum disk. In practice, I believe it is not actually required. You can have quorum disks on separate servers, not connected. Not tried to implement this though!

Get a copy of vmware. When you create your virtual machines, make sure the boot drive is on the IDE bus. On one node, create a second disk [pln disk] and edit the config file on both nodes to make it shared and set the appropriate locking.

Once you get the hang of it, it's easy to do a cluster in VMware. You don't need any additional hardware, and the whole thing fits on your laptop.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback. My boss would rather see an external drive. I guess he has money to spend. plus I think he wants to learn and play with this.

For the external drive, two "Y" cables and two external terminators works best.
