Groupshield 4.5
Groupshield interferes with "brick-level" backup of the exchange server. CA recommends disabling virus protection during backups but that is NOT an option. Is anyone running a similar config @ their shop?

Sorry to be slightly off target, but we are having an issue with Groupshield. Our issue is that users are having what appear to be timeout issues while archiving. NA recommended increasing a registry retry value which did not seem to help. If we stop the Groupshield service it works fine.
You may be having a similar issue regarding time.

Yep.. easy solution. Create a script that stops all the groupshield services and one that starts all the groupshield services (using net stop and net start). In arcserve under the options, Pre/post, just pop in the stop script under the "run before job" section and the start script under the "run after job" section.
I have also found that sometimes arcserve wont stop and start these scripts on some servers ive worked on so what i did there is just worked out when the job starts and completes and scheduled the scripts using the at command accordingly.
One of these solutions should help you both out.

By the way... its the only way to get the backup to work with Mcafee, otherwise you'll need to purchase inoculateIT. Sorry fellas.
