I needed to do an Exchange "overlay" reinstall last night, and today none of my users could login to Outlook. They continued to get the "Please enter your Username, Domain, Password" box. I tried all the other steps as described by Microsoft (making sure valid RPC entries were in the registry). Nothing fixed it until...

At the end of my wits, I checked my Exchange server at home to compare it to the one at work.

I found the following anomoly:

In the Registry key:
\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Rpc\Netbios
there was only ONE entry on the non-working Exchange 2000 Server, and TWO entries on the working one.

Both had the following DWORD values:

Name - ncacn_nb_tcp0 TYPE - REG_DWORD Data - (0)

The one at home also had the following:

Name - ncacn_nb_tcp1 TYPE - REG_DWORD Data - (1)

Sure enough, I plugged this into the Exchange Server at work and people are able to login just fine.

Hope this helps someone!
