Exchange ActiveSync

How do I set up Exchange ActiveSync with windows mobile and or Palm handhelds. I created a ActiveSync policy and linked it to a user enabled for ActiveSync and attached the policy to the user, and obviously tried to connect him and it failed. Do I need to be running Outlook 2007, are there any ports that need to be opened, and once it syncs do you still need to connect to your PC via USB in order to retrieve mail in the future, basically would push technology work here?

You need to open port 443. (SSL) if you have a real certificate.. If you don't then you have to open port 80 to your CAS server.

I assume you are talking about from the outside world..

No, you dont have to be using outlook 2007. And you should not have to ever connect it to a PC..

Are you running a newer style pocket pc? is it on the approved list?

In your ActiveSync policy, did you check "Allow non-Provivisionable Devices"? This will allow Exchange talk with "old" (pre Windows Mobile 6) devices.

I take it on my single exchange environment this is enabled because OWA works on https.

if you mean VeriSign then no I have not. The person who supports our Linux box is going to create one for Activsync, hope it works by the wat does this need to be imported on the device, and if yes How.
