Hi Experts,

I am facing very peculiar problem with exchange 5.5 & outlook XP.

We are using Exchange 5.5 as mail server & outlook XP as mail client on windows XP. Outlook XP hangs when making send/recieve, we are downloading all messages to personal folder. If messages are downloaded to mailbox then outlook works fine, but I cant choose this option for all the users as it eats up my storage on server.

Even I downloaded & installed olk1005.exe from microsoft but still the problem persists.

Kindly suggest me some solutions.

Regards,
Basavaraj

Most likely a problem with the .pst file you are downloading them to. Could be corrupt, could be too large (2Gig limit).

Have you tried specifying a new one?

Hi,

This is happening only for the first time in the morning & its happening for all users whose mails are downloading for personal folder. The pst size is not beyond 1GB.

Please suggest

Thanks,
Basavaraj

In that case (only happens once in the morning) I would first suspect Virus scanning software on the exchange server. Ours (CA) caused some timeouts when we first installed it (even though I was not using pst's instead of mailboxes). Turned on background scanning and it went away.

Hi,

I am using MCAFEE antivirus, whatt I have to do whether I have to disable it or reinstall. Please suggest.

Is that an add on for Exchange or just a the regular MCafee AV?

Hello:

I am running Exchange 5.5 on a NT 4.0 w/sp 6.0a. All the serices are running but the MS Exchange Transfer agent. Wehn I try to run it, it gives me the following message. I have all the curren SP for Exchange 5.5 installed.

Could not start the Microsoft Exchange Transfer Agent Service on \\server name
Error: 2140 An internal Windows NT error occurred.

If some one could please guide me how to resolve this problem, i will be grateful

Regards
Gaurav

Not much to go on. Is this a new install or was it working and then failed?

Pretty good chance you will have to go to MS Support for this one but I would post it in the regular forum to see if anyone had the same error recently. You have somehow posted as a reply to an existing thread.
