Here is the Deal, i had exchange 5.5 working grate on a windows NT server and NT Domain, working great.

migrate the domain to windows 2000 sp4, and changed the exchange server to windows 2000

The server is working fine, but here is my problem, some clients have configured in outlook ( some 2000,2002 and 2003)
the Exchange account and a pop3 account.

When users forward messages that came for the pop3 account by default it selects the same account for sending the email, so if i want to send the email using the echange server account i have to mannualy change it. But here is the real problem.
If i select to forward an email that came from the pop3 account and put and email and put a exchange account as a copied it will use the pop3 account and wont get the messeage to the exchange server account.

This is happening since the exchange server is only for internal use, those email are not publish to the internet, so what i need to do is that all email are check first exchange server for a existing account then use the pop3 account if it doesnt exist.

Any help!!!

This is hard to follow....

Can you use a specific example?

If message #1 is retrieved from your (Exchange) server, where would message #2 (pop3) be retrieved from? Then....where do you want each one forwarded to?

It sounds to me like you have users that are using the client to get mail from multiple servers, including your Exchange server. The login credentials for sending (SMTP) may need to be forced to go through only one server.

This can be complicated more by the ISP being used by the user.

if i send and email using internal Exchange server with copy to an external email it wont go out. Sayin that that account doesnt exist.

If i send and email using the pop3 account and copied it to an internal exchange account it will try to send the email to the smtp of the exchange server but using pop3.

is it clear?

thanks
