Exchange 2003 sp2 + messages awaiting directory lookup

We are running an exchange 2003 environment. We recently installed sp 2 for exchange.
Now outgoing and incoming mail is sitting in the "messages awaiting directory lookup" queue on our front end servers.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you install SP2 on all Exchange boxes and the DCs?

Why would I apply Exchange sp2 to my domain controllers?

If you have installed the Exchange tools on the DC to allow you to see Exchange properties in AD Users & Computers, then you need to apply the SP to the DCs as well. This is an often overlooked step that can cause some strange problems.
