I have an exchange 2003 server running Sp2

with SP2

Increase in mailbox storage size limits to 75 gigabyte (GB)

I have a user who mailbox size is 4,489.5 and getting bigger by the month last year it was 2-3 Gb

With sp2 is this limitless ?

What problems could this cause?

What is the best way to archive this so the user see's archives as there normal mailbox

Thank

You can't exmerge a mailbox bigger than 2GB. So, from a disaster recovery standpoint, many tools won't work.

There are known performance issues when certain folders within the mailbox have too many items in them.

If you were in my situation what would you do? my director will not delete anything unless he can archive them and view them in the same way he does now.

that's teeny, tiny.

most of our board are bigger than that. Some are hovering around the 8GB mark.

Choices:
1. Email him and say his mailbox is too big and is unrecoverable in the event of server problems and this email is to say it is now his problem.
2. Archive 2004 or Q1 2005 to a public folder or several public folders.
3. Leave it alone and let it grow. I do.

Re: Performance - any folder with more than 50,000 items will kill the performance.
