In Exchange 2003 Server I have 2 mailbox stores (Private and VIP). I created a policy to clean up email for the Private store and send it to the "system Cleanup" folder when it runs. The other mailbox store VIP has no limits so I don't want the policy to process that one. I used KB 319188 to set this up. When I manually run my policy to test it, the default recipient policy is run instead. The default policy has the lowest priority. Any help would be great.

Ok I got the Policy to run for the Private mailbox store by runing the RUS and having it rebuild the mailboxes. I have both the policys set to "send report only". Is there any way to stop the default policy from running because when I get the mailbox manager report it shows both policys being ran. I would like to stop the default policy from running even though it is just sending a report.

The default Policy will always run, so don't put a Mailbox Manager on that one if you want to have no impact on one Store.

Thanks for your responce Marc. I am new to Exchange so could you clarify how to do this. I have one Exchange server so when I go into EMS and select properties for the server then select the "Mailbox Management" tab there are only the choices for when (time) to run the "Mailbox Manager" and the type of report to email the administrator. When I go into the properties of the "Default Policy" the "Modify" button is grayed out and I don't see where I can choose not to apply a "mailbox manager" on the policy. I hope I explained this correctly, let me know if you need more information.

Thanks Marc, I used the KB article you suggested and created a policy to exclude mailboxes in the VIP mailbox store from being processed by the mailbox manager. I ran mailbox manager and looked at the report and there was no default policy and everything processed like it should have. You were a great help, many thanks.

You're welcome
