Exchange 2003 cant send mail to my Ex 2000 server

I have just installed an Exchange 2003 server into our organisation to co exist with our Exchange 2000 server. I have migrated 1 mailbox and have the following issue...

1. Email will not flow from the Exchnage 2003 mailbox to the 2000 server, messages just sit in the outbound queue.

Messages will go out to external internet recipients and email will flow from 2000 users to the 1 2003 user.

?? any ideas? SMTP issue on 2000 maybe?

UPDATE:

The messages only flow to my 2000 users when i restart the server???
