I am having problems with the microsoft exchange event service which will not start
Windows 2000 SP4, exchange 2000 with SP3
Exchange has installed, ive added a test mailbox with an SMTP mail address and send test mail to it. I can see the mail is hitting the new account, by expanding the information store.
Now when I try to create a mapi profile, I enter the exchange server name then the first few letters of the mailbox, usually when clicking on check name it will fill in the rest of the name and create the mapi profile. Have also tried entering the full alias but to no avail.
Have tried a mixture of mapi clients, tried outlook 2000 but am testing with XP, same problem with each.
The error returned on creating the profile on screen is The action could not be completed. The name could not be matched to a name in the address list
The following error appears in the application event log
Quote:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeES
Event Category: General
Event ID: 5
Date: 06/10/2003
Time: 11:52:09
User: N/A
Computer: EXCH1
Description:
An unexpected MAPI error occurred. Error returned was [0x80004005].
Firstly the microsoft exchange event service is set to run under localsystem. If I change this to a domain administrator the account will actually start but I can still not match a profile to a name in the address list.
Ive tried entitled XADM: Exchange 2000 Event Service Event: An Unexpected MAPI Error Occurred
This prompts you to expand public folders, and then view the system folders and I should be looking for a duplicate instance of EventConfig_servername folder. This is only listed once so this isnt the problem
Ive reinstalled SP3 and am still having no luck. The account will actually start using a domain administrator rather than local system, so im not sure if the exchange event service is causing the problem, but from most documentation of the mapi error it seems to point to this service. Even with it started I cannot match names from the distribution list to create an initial mapi profile.
