This is a beginners question as I am a beginner.
I am trying to set up an Exchange 2000 to send/receive mail from 2 remote locations using POP3/SMTP.
I don’t seem to success, can anyone advise me.
Also which ports should I open on the Firewall.
Ans finally, which is the most secure (and simple) way of doing it SSL…
Many thanks

Firewall ports: 25 (SMTP) and 110 (POP3)

You'll have to expand upon what errors/symptoms/etc you're getting, though "no success, can anyone tell me why" isn't enough to be able to offer anything that will help you.

Many thanks, i should have known better and expanded.
I have managed to configure the client (tele-worker). But they are only able to send NOT receive e-mail.
The ports i am using are the standard SMTP 25 POP3 110.
Can i use or should i use POP3 995 with SSL?
Thanks once again

I'd recommend getting POP3 working first, then once it's going try switching to SSL ports. Are you unable to retrieve email from the server, or are senders getting a bounceback (and either way, are there any error messages)?

Basically i can send with a POP3 from a remote location, BUT i can not retreive the mail from the server.
As you said, i'll fix the POP3 first and then i'll move to SSL.
But as i mentioned i can not retreive. Can you steer me on the right direction?
Many thanks
Dan

are you using the ip address for your mail server?

ex 123.123.123.123 rather then mail.company.com?

What kind of error message do you get when you try to connect via POP3? (Sending email TO the server is SMTP, retrieving is POP3, IMAP, HTTP, or perhaps MAPI.)
