Hi folks,

We recently had one of Domain Controllers fried, it was originally an NT box and we originally had NT and Exchange 5.5 on another box as our mailserver, but both were upgraded to 2000 following Microsoft’s approved methods.
The domain controller which when bang was the used in the migration to hold the ADC on it, after having to rebuild from scratch it now does not have an ADC on it.
I have noticed that the Exchange options in the AD user and computer management console are no longer available on either of my DC’s but are on the Exchange server (non-DC) whereas before they were available.

So I guess the questions are:

1, do I need the ADC (no exchange 5.5 in the org anymore)?
If I do are there any gotchas I need to know about?
2, are the Exchange options shown on the DC's connected to the ADC and if I put the ADC back in will I get the Exchange options back on my DC's. (Still thinking about weather I want this/need this or not.)

You don't need the ADC is you don't have 5.5 anymore. If you want to see the Exchange options in AD Users and Computers when logged into a DC, you need to install the Exchange System Manager console on those servers.

Thanks Koonan,
I thought that once exchange 5.5 was removed that ADC was no longer a requirement but just needed to be sure, and the exchange info on the DC's isn't a real requirement so I'll just leave it be.

Cheers
