About a week ago the exchange server started giving the message "message will be delayed do not resend", the about 4 days later it said "message undeliverable". Any guesses what is going on. This problem started happening the afternoon before thanksgiving, and is now happeing for all mail sent last week.

I have had a very similar problem and my problem was my DNS server. If exchange can not resolve names email will not go anywhere. Hope that helps

Hmmm

Mayby it was tired, or decided to take a vacation. With the information you provided, there's no way to know. You could turn diagnostic logging for smtp up to 5, check your application log, and let us know what errors you are seeing; that would be helpful.

These are the errors from the eve log
they both are referring to numbers that don't extist,
I changed my file server from 192.168.1.5
to 192.168.2.5
and the internet ip has changed from 12.153.202.143

Wait...you did what?

Your DNS is clearly messed up....are you saying you changed not only your internal subnet but also your external IP address?

Please let us know all the things that you changed prior to last Wednesay (the day before Thanksgiving) because the changes you've made are clearly the culprit here.

Our static IP provider changed the number in July of this year and I changed the ip the first of november. In the DNS management console I changed the entries under filservername.local the first two were wrong static ip and file server ip. I changed these. Then after today I found another place to change fileserver.local >_msdcs >gc.
Now the mail goes out immediately instead of delaying but at this time have not recieved it at my netscape email address

GOT IT. Our bad email folder filled up the disk and eventually shut down the exchange server completely. Thanks for suggestiions.

Damn...I forgot to ask if it was plugged in. :)

Glad it's working.
