exch admin 5.5 on w2003 server?

I am trying to install the exchange 5.5 admin package on a windows 2003 server. When I try to use the cd I get a message that the program is incompatible with the 2003 server. Does anyone know anyway to install just the admin package to connect with exchange5.5 on another server?

It won't work on Win2K3 at all.

The only way that I've found to install the Admin program is to run a custom install from the CD. If you find out otherwise, please let me know.

I think you can but you have a few patches to make it work... it's difficult, M$ says you should really use 2000 or 2003.

Actually, I don't think you can at all Dyadmin. Word we got from MS was that it was an unsupported platform for Exchange 5.5 Admin. Like I said, if you get it to work, please let me know.

It works fine on an XP workstation, so I really can't see the need to install it on a W2K3 server.

We needed to install it for our new BlackBerry Enterprise server, which was Win2K3. We ended up rebuilding the server as Win2K, no biggie.

Hi,
after searching the net for answers I've finally found the answer.

The only way to install Exch admin 5.5 on Windows 2003 is to install it from a Exchange 2000 installation CD. Exchange 2000 contains an Exch Admin 5.5 component which can be installed on Windows 2003.

It works!

Like I say it's difficult and M$ will not support your configuration. If You have Windows Server 2K3, take advatages of Exchange 2k3 or even 2000. Exchange 5.5 is old and support for it will be thinning out in years to come.

Just my thoughts..I should talk ..I still run exchange 5.5 on a 2k server, it works great, and I have no plans to change it.

I was in error, exchange 2000 does not work with w2k3, and the eachange 5.5 admin package will not work on 2k3. Sorry to all...:~(
