We are running a server with Windows 2000 - service pk 3, MS Exchange 2000 - service pk 3, ISA - service pk 1.
We are finding that the memory utilisation by Exchange (Store.exe) is excessive and eventually leads to the system running out of memory and foreground processes become unresponsive. We also have the exact same issue on another server running the same OS and apps.
Please Help

I have had the same exact issue after applying sp3 for e2k. Running windows 2000 server sp3, with exchange 2000 sp3 (now, sp2 was fine). Would love to see if anyone has any suggestions

HI,

Yes, you will notice that all available Ram has been taken by a process called "store.exe", this is the Exchange 2000 Information Store. This behavior is by design and the Information Store releases memory as soon as other applications and/or services need it. In Exchange 5.5 you were able to set the amount memory to be used by the Information Store but this is no longer the case with Exchange 2000. You can find some fine tuning tips on the following link:

Thanks for the info but unfortunately with the install of svc pk 3 the memory does not appear to be released particulary to foreground applications such as any admin tools. The foreground processes appear to lock up when launched. Any suggestions

Try renaming the store.exe to store.exe.old and reinstalling your current service pack. I had a similar problem and found out it was a corruption of that file.
