A column in excel.

I need a date entered in like 2007-01-01

Everytime I type that in, it automatically changes to 01/01/2007.

I reformat to general or number and it changes to 39083!

I cannot find a date format of this sort in the list of date formats.

How do I keep it from doing this, I'm going to burn my computer.

Hi,

Why do Dates and Times seem to be so much trouble? faq68-5827

The format is...
[tt]
yyyy-mm-dd
[/tt]

Skip,

I didnt realize i could make my own custom! Ok computer saved! Thanks!

And it allows you to do almost anything you like within reason, so you are not restricted to just one usage of d m or y, so if for example you wanted it to say

Tuesday 14 November 2006

then just use a format of

dddd dd mmmm yyyy

or for

Today is Tuesday 14 November 2006

then just use a format of

"Today is" dddd dd mmmm yyyy

and so on and so on.....

Regards
Ken..............
