I'm currently trying to pull data from cell B3 on worksheet Test to a cell on worksheet Test2. I'm using the formula =Test!B3 in the cell on worksheet Test2 and it isn't working consistently. Please advise and thank you for your help.

Hi mastro78:

It works for me. What exactly you mean by it isn't working? What is in Cell B3 of Sheet Test, and what do you get in Sheet Test2?

It returns me what I type in...even if the cell value matches. Not sure why it's not working. I have done it numerous times before without any problems.

Hi mastro78:

Please post ...

1) what is in cell B3 of Sheet Test?
2) what result you are getting in Sheet Test2?

Please post the actual entries in 1) and 2) above (not a narrative description)

I find when I use the formula in the 3rd row and have my labels in the 1st row it works. What was being displayed in a Test2 cell was the actual formula (=Test!B3) and the data that was in B3 was text. I tried setting up cell formatting to match...nothing mattered. When I moved my formula down a row, works. Not sure what was causing the problem.

Your cell is formatted as text before you enter the formula.

Format the cell as general and then re-enter the formula

a cell pre-formatted as text will assume that whatever you are putting into it is text, whether it starts with an = or not.

If you need to have a cell formatted as text but with a formula, enter the formula first and then format as text

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.
