excel worksheet name property

I have an excel app that adds worksheets with rather large names. It appears that there is a worksheet name size limitation. Is there any way to get around it?

Before you assign a name to a sheet, make sure the name length is 31 characters or less.

Thanks. I was hoping there was some way around this limitation. I need more than 31 characters.
