I have several users who have had workbooks that they have saved but that have become protected. None of the users protected their workbook. Additionally, I have one user who DID password protect her workbook who had THAT one change. I set up her password and she didn't change it.

Has anyone seen workbooks suddenly start becoming protected?

Network is large (about 1000 users) and is part of a much larger (10's of thousands) network. Corporate had all expected security in place (firewall, AV, etc.).

Thoughts?

And... thanks in advance, all!

Addendum: Excel 2007, but the workbooks are .xls format. We think... (as in, we know that some are, not sure about others).

Hi,

Maybe a problem with some network encryption? Happesn occasionally on our network.

Skip,

I suppose that's possible, though I wouldn't even know where to begin looking. I've never seen it before.

We are looking for a pattern. I'm sure there's something in common with the problems we've seen, we just need to find it.

Ah well :)
