Hi,

I have a user who is working on an Excel spreadsheet, when suddenly they click in a cell and a duplicate cursor appears and hightlights a cell above where they are clicking and as they click around the spreadsheet into different cells a duplicate cursor selects a cell higher up the page also.

Why is this happening?, I've searched for hidden easter eggs in the SE's in case it was a key combination that they accidently pressed, but from MSO2000 onwards apparently the high court forced MS to stop releasing undocumented features and it's a sackable offence to put such code in their products now.

So what could be triggering this bizzare behaviour?

Cheers,

Make sure the cells aren't merged - I've seen something similar happen in the past, and that was the cause.

These are completely separate rows and the cells are not merged.

It is highlighing separate cells with at least 5+ rows between them.

If they were merged cells you have one large cell wouldn't you?

These are normal sized cells, rows apart acting like two separate cursors?

It's very odd behaviour and appartently it's happened more than once or twice, though they only decided to tell me today!

If the cell has a formula that contains a cell location/range, then if you double click on the cell, the location of the cells/ranges in the formula will highlite as well.
