Hello,

I have a range of cells with values and would like to be able to figure out which of them, if added together, would equal a target value. I have been through faq68-4742, but the Sorter does not seem to be the answer because it changes the values of the cells in range and I can't have the values changed because they represent invoice totals. Or perhaps I am simply using the Sorter incorrectly.

Any assistance will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

This topic came up several months ago. A lot of people got very interesting in finding an answer, but there is one fundamental problem with what you want: There might be more than one answer.

Example
Let's say I have the following values:
2
4
6
8

Now, what values add up to 10?

Well, 2+8=10 and 4+6=10.

Of course, if you have a lot more numbers, the problems can get a lot more complicated and the number of answers can increase.

Yes, I suspected that would be a big stumbling block.

Oh well, thanks for the info.
