Hi All,

I'm having and issue with the Excel 2003's VBA Editor. As I type it keeps auto-deleting any spaces at the end of a word. For example if I type DIM MyVar, as I type the space after DIM is immediately removed so I end up with DIMMyVar. I can then go back and correct the text to DIM MYVar manually retyping the space back in. Then the space will remain unless it becomes the ending space. The texted type does not make any difference. I can type 123 ABC and still have the same issues.

I tried turning the turn all of the options for the editor off and on, but that did not help.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks, Richard

It may be some type of auto correction issue, but I don't know how to stop it. I would think that there is an option or a registry entry to change.

have you tried typing dim in lower case and seeing what it does?
Excel 2002 does not show the symptom here.

there is a tide in the affairs of man that you Cnut ignore.................

The type case does not matter. If I type "dim mystring as string" the result before I go back an re-enter the spaces is "dimmystringasstring". Then when I add the spaces back in the result of the line is "Dim mystring As String". The editor is providing the capitalization.

The editor used to work properly. I tried another machine with the same software and the problem does not exist on that machine.

Just a thought - is it possible to put a no-break space just to fool the editor?

the only thing that works here other than a space is shift and space - is that any different in reality?

Thanks for the suggestions.

I tried the Detect and Repair function, reseting defaults, but that did not work.

I also tried the shift+space and the behavior is the same.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Thanks, Richard

Any add-ins installed in VBE? You could also try to see the VBE settings in the registry.
