We need a way (without VBA) to have a number in a cell change to the color red when its value changes to a negative number upon recalculation. Would it be feasible for this to happen with a macro? Laura Velez, MCP

You can set this just by formatting the cell - click format/cell, choose number and you will see various options including showing negative numbers in red.
If you want more than this, you can set a conditional format, where you can change the background color of the cell etc.
Thank you for the answers, but we want this to change from the normal black to red when that number becomes a negative number when it is recalculated. Laura Velez, MCP

conditional formatting is what you need to do. it is located Format>Conditional Formatting and you can set the font or color to whatever you want to whenever the cell is less than, or greater than another cell or even just a static number. this is probably the funnest feature of excel, it's great!!! if you have any questions using it i'd be happy to help you walk through it.
Changing the format of the cell to Number and then selecting the red colored example in the Negative Numbers: box will work with re-calculated formulas
