I have a worksheet in an Excel workbook that I use as a template. I will copy the worksheet and rename it when needed. What I am looking for is a function that will insert the tab name of the worksheet into a cell. Exp. I name the tab "Test" and that name appears in cell B3. Any ideas? Thanks.

=RIGHT(CELL("FILENAME",A1),LEN(CELL("FILENAME",A1))-FIND("]",CELL("FILENAME",A1)))

Then you don't have a template.

Templates have the file extension .XLT

They are useful. You should learn how to use them.

Lilliabeth, thanks for the info. Cell references are one function I have not used in the past. This will be another one to explore

mintjulep, I will review the template you had suggested. Thanks for the input.
