Excel selecting range of cells for link to Word doc

I am trying to link an Excel 2003 spreadsheet to a Word 2003 document But I would like to include a textbox which occupies the top of the spreadsheet. I can't select the textbox as well.

Can I select a range of cells including a textbox which is at the top of the spreadsheet?

Please explain what you are trying to do by linking this textbox.

BTW, did you try doing it? It seems like a question that you could answer by trying it yourself.

I have managed to carry out the link now. I don't know why I couldn't do it before! I have an Excel workbook which has worksheets each one of which is a quotation for creating a website for clients and for client invoices.

I have an attractive text box at the top of each worksheet which includes my company details and I want the text box and the range of cells below it to be the source data for the word document.

For some reason I couldn't manage to select the textbox and the cells below so as to Copy and Paste Special into Word. I had been using F8 to select and Excel was coming up with an error message "can't copy multiple selections"

However, I can select the textbox and cells below now. Both the box and the cells are now surrounded by the selection box. I can't now!! Somethings unstable I'll try a Detect & Repair.

Why would you have a TextBox for, "my company details" as a TextBox is used for user input?

Why would you need any "control" object to display "my company details"?

Really, I'd format a good looking logo et al on a hidden sheet, use the CAMERA feature to "copy" to each sheet.

Thanks for that advice SkipVault. I had to Google "camera feature" to find out what it is and how to find it.

My Excel skills are very limited. I am using Text Box as a means to display information in a spreadsheet which couldn't be included in a single cell. To me the Text Box is a drawing object in which text can be inserted.

Since I have managed to select the data cells and the text box it must be some instability in my system that is preventing selecting it.

I did a Detect & Repair and also did a Restart - only to find that I've lost my printer!

I think I should start a new thread asking for advice as to to what book(s)and resources I should invest in to learn a bit more about Excel.

Good for you! You seem like a resourceful and inquisitive person. With an attitude like that, you will go far, IMHO.

I have altered the spreadsheet after finding that I couldn't select the textbox and the range of cells underneath it. Although I managed to do it once. I just added a blank line above the textbox. I have found with word that its better to add some text before inserting an image so perhaps there is some bug in the software.
