Hi I was wondering if any one can help me.

I have a spreadsheet which has links to another spreadsheet, they are a simple = the value of the cell in the other spreadsheet. I can open the spreadsheet okay on my machine. When I send it to my colleagues it opens with the message do you want to update external links, at that point they can see the numbers okay, but as soon as they click “do not update button” the cells all go #REF

Does any one know why?

Thanks

Paul

The formula is probably pointing to a file that they do not have access to. Either something on your C drive or a network drive they cannot access.

Look up #REF! in Excel's help file for info.

Hi John

Thanks for the tip. The spreadsheet does reference to another spreadsheet the person does not have access to as it is on my c drive. However I have other spreadsheets where this is the case and so long as the person clicks on do not update links they can still see the values in the cell.
I have tried the help in Excel but could not find the answer
