Excel problem with parenthesis

I have a large amnount of data exported from a program called pronto. When I import this into SAP from Excel I get an " in front and at the end of the text string.
I have tried find/replace to exclude this but still happens.
Any ideas

and how are you importing ito SAP ??

Do you have any formulae or is it all textual & numeric information

thanks for the reply, i have exported from pronto into access, to run a catt i have imported the data into excel.
after numerous searching i have have the answer to the problem, the delimiter was an comma, this was causing the parenthesis.
I have replaced these and now all is ok
