When saving a .prn file, it truncates to the first 26 columns, the next n columns are then appended to the bottom of the file. I'm trying to export 36 columns and 4000 lines without losing my sanity!

Zot, what are you trying to achieve by saving it as a .prn file? Would a CSV file not suffice, or another format?

I am not sure what the limits are, but you may have hit them.

I really want a fixed-length .TXT file format (a-la-Lotus123) .... pity Microsoft isn't so clever !

Zot,
I am facing the same dilema for a user. With a looooooooong record, the .PRN is not the way to go if you want a non-delimited file with a fixed redocd length. I believe that you will have to resort to writing a string to a file for each record.

I would have to concer with SkipVought. You should attempt creating a macro to save it then rename the file to .PRN instead.

--MiggyD It's better to have two heads to solve a problem from different angles than to have tunnel vision to a dead end.
