Is it possible to lock a range of cells, and keep other cells open for user input? I would like to let users input values into cells, but not let them accidentally erase or change formulas relating to those cells. Is that possible?

Thanks so much for any feedback!

Flip79,

Yes indeed! Select the cells you want to be unlocked. Click on Format/Cells... then choose the Protection tab. Uncheck the Locked checkbox then click Ok. To actually put protection into effect, Click on Tools/Protection/Protect Sheet... Add a password, if desired. That's all there is to it.

I tried that, but it's not letting me format any cells after I protect the spreadsheet. Any more insight??
Thanks!

Flip,

1) Unprotect your worksheet.
2) Highlight the cells you want to keep "unlocked"
3) Format these cells ; uncheck the locked box.
3) Protect your worksheet

Good luck.

Thanks for the follow-up datadan. Perhaps I should have emphasized to turn off sheet protection first. [wink]
