ok i have 2 sheets in an excel document......
in sheet 1 i have a column sku..and a colum weight (only sku has a value)
in sheet 2 i have a colum sku and a colum weight (both have values).
how can i set up a formula to work where it checks the sku in sheet 1 and then goes and checks it in sheet 2 and pulls the weight from 2 and puts it in a column in 1.

You could use a match and index formula, name the 2 ranges on sheet 2 (eg column 1 "sku" and column 2 "weight").

If you want to match the weight from sheet2 to the sku on sheet1 you would enter the following formula into the cells in the weight column on sheet1 (lets say the formula is going in cell b2).

=index(weight,match(a2,sku,""))

Then copy this formula down the column as far as you need. If there is no match the cell will be left blank - if you wanted anything else to appear change the "" in the formula to whatver you wanted - eg ,0)) or ,"No March"))

Otherwise you could also use a vlookup - refer to thread68-256367.

Let me know if you need any other help.
