I am using W/XP and Excel 2002. In one sheet only of a 5 sheet file, when I enter a date, i.e., 4/13/4, Excel makes it =4/13/4. Other sheets and other files are ok. What setting is causing this? I have reviewed Tools|Options and did not see anything obvious. The cell formating is set to a date format, or sometimes a general format.

Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom,

Under Tools > Options. On the Transition Tab uncheck the Transition Formula Entry

Cheers
Andy

Andy, thanks, that saved hours of frustration. I never would have figured that out, although I should have made the association because it was in fact a converted 1-2-3 spreadsheet.

I appreciate your help.

Tom
