Hi

I know that this has been asked plenty in the past, but it never seems to have been answered! I am importing a spreadsheet from Excel via DTS into SQL Server 2000. I am finding that I am losing data. I understand from reading previous postings that if there is a column that has some alphanumeric strings, and other numeric strings, then it imports the numerics as null. Is there any good way around this? I have read a couple of solutions :

However I would like to see if there is an easier way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

(I would never advocate the use of Excel as a tool for getting data into a database, however this company is obsessed with it! This piece of knowledge will hopefully be a useful tool in my battle!)

Why not just save off the excel file as a tab delimited text file, and then import that?

I have done that (well comma seperated file, same thing), which worked, although it will be more awkward to automate. Seems that this is the only kind of approach that will work here though.

Thanks for you response.
