Hello,
I frequently import data from Excel using transferSpreadsheet and then process it using several queries. The primary key field comes in as A-01001001 or AA01001001 and then has the - removed if it exists before the data is apphended to the main table. The problem is that occasionally, the import and processing fails...always at record 476. Once this happens, users must only import less than 476 records for it to work.

The system is in use at various locations (not interconnected) and they all end up with the problem after a period of time. All users obtain data from the same source, however their primary key fields start with different letters.

Is there something special about record 476 that is causing this problem? I find it very odd that it is always the same record number, even if the data different at different locations.

G'day mate. The next time it happens try processing record 476 manually to see what it wrong with it. Try pasting in the cells into your table one by one, then executing the query steps on it until you work out what the exact error is. I often find with excel trailing spaces can exceed a text field size. Very tough to spot as the spaces are invisible to the human eye, so make sure when trying this technique dont type into access what you THINK is there, copy and paste, cell for field....
