I just upgraded someone from Office 97 to Office 2000. She's objecting to the color that Excel uses when she selects a range of cells. How would I change it? (I looked at Tool/Options/Color but couldn't locate that color under "Standard" to modify it). She wants something lighter ... says it's too difficult to read the contents of the cells while they're selected.

Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Display. Under the Appearence tab, click on "Item:" drop down. Choose Selected Items. Select your color.

The highlighted cells will have muted background of the color you selected.

Bev,
That only way I know is on your desktop right click and go to properties. Select Appearance, then under "Item" select "Selected Items" and you can change it their.
