Help!! I'm having a frustrating time closing Excel 2000.
Everytime I close Excel, whether I have a workbook open or not, it hangs the whole system (Office2K, win98SE) and a reboot is required.

I've tried uninstalling office and running the eraser utility from Microsoft (it completely removes any leftover files or registry entries from Office).

After reinstalling, I get the same problem!

thanks!

chowder0 - can you tell us if you have you installed any service packs?

Does this happen with other (office) applications?

Thanks, I found out what was causing the problem. An upgrade was done from Adobe Acrobat 4 to version 5. In the process Adobe placed a xls file in the XLstartup folder.
Once I got rid of that, Excel was able to close properly. Phew!
