This is one of those "There's got to be a way to do this; I just don't know what it is" kind of problems.
I am in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. I have an Excel spreadsheet that tracks the Safety Patrol schedule. One column gives the vessel's name for that patrol; the next has the coxswain's name (landlubbers: think captain, close enough); the next six columns contain the names of the crew (most patrols have one to four crew, a few, five or six).
I need a way to keep track what names and how many times each appears in the array. I would like to present this in a worksheet in the same spreadsheet. It feels like there must be a function or combination of functions that would do it. I just can't puzzle it out.
