I need help ASAP!

I have two cells as follows:

Cell A Cell B
Dell PFS Tools
Process
Training
Late Part
Additional Parts Required
Bandwidth

If can write a formula as follows =IF(A1 = "DELL PFS", "Tools")

How can I create a formula that will give me a drop down list that if DELL PFS is typed then a drop down list of Cell B will appear so that I can select any one of the items

Hi,

Put you 6 items in column D, first 6 rows.

in B1, Data > Validation - CUSTOM...

and past this formula into the textbox...
[tt]
=IF(A1="Dell PFS",OFFSET(D1,0,0,6,1),"")
[/tt]

I am a little confused. Maybe this will help me.

In my spreadsheet this is how it is set up:

M N
RCA 1 RCA 2

In cell M I want to type in DELL PFS and in cell N I have the option of picking one of the item from a drop down box:
Tools
Process
Training
Late Part
Additional Parts Required
Bandwidth

I need to get clarity on the formula. Thanks!!

Did you try Skip's suggestion? Data > Validation is what you want to create the drop down list. Skip's formula is used as the criteria in Data > Validation.

Sorry, one bad lead.

Data > Validation -- [red]LIST[/red].. and and paste the formula into the textbox...

Another Higgins/SkipVought - I was able to use Data Validation>Settings>List (not Customs) and that allowed me to add the items and see the items in the drop down list. What I would like to do is inj a cell type in DELL PFS and in the next cell have the same drop down list with the items to choose from. I am not sure it that can be done that way or not.

I may have to setle for a drop down list for both cells to reduce any confusion but really would like to do it the other way where an item is typed in one cell and the next cell have a drop down list.

What do you think?

yes, LIST, and paste the formula into the textbox.
