Hi,
I have an Excel sheet that I built years ago to calculate hours worked (great). But my latest employer required submission in decimal days.
For example, an 8 hour working day=1, 4 hours=0.5, 2 hours=0.25, etc.
Does anyone know a formula for doing this conversion?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
K

Hi,

What UNITS is your data?

Date/Time is already in DAYS. Simply use GENERAL Number Format.

for a NUANCE![tongue][/sub]

Wouldn't you just divide the total hours by 8?

[Pre]
Eg, 8 hours divided by 8 = 1.0
16 " " " 8 = 2.0
4 " " " 8 = 0.5
[/Pre]

Or have I missed something?

Cheers
Pete

This is one of those problems where it would be extremely helpful if you posted a sample file.

If you store time on your timesheet using a 24 hour clock (e.g. arrive at 8:00, leave at 17:00), then you subtract the one time from the other to get the hours worked on that day. You would then add them up for the week and display a result like 41:30 using Custom format [h]:mm In such a case, you would calculate "days" as (total time) * 3 and display it as a number using format #.00

If you store time on your timesheet using whole numbers for each hour (e.g. arrive at 8, leave at 17.5), then you subtract the one time from the other to get the hours worked on that day, then add those differences up to get a total for the week. You would display a result like 41.50 using number format #.00 In such a case, you would calculate "days" as (total time) / 8 and display it as a number using format #.00

Thanks Guys, It was a number formatting issue.
