I have a column in Exel that will not auto fill down. Any tips you might have? I didn't know if it was due to the alpha numeric.
Thanks-
Laurie

Sample Data
9979F
9980F
9981F
9982F
9983F

Yes, looks like that can't be done.

Best bet:

do a f9979, f9980 etc (say, in columns A), then in another column have =right(a2,4)&left(a2,1)

or create a list with 9979, 9980 etc, then in the next column =a2&"F"

Or with 9979F in say cell A1, in A2 put =(LEFT(A1,(LEN(A1)-1))+1)&"F" and copy down.

lauriebizz,

I was misinformed, there are smarter people out there. LOL. Ken's solution is much better.

Thanks XLHelp for the suggestions. If it were just for me, I would have used it, but it's for a non-technical user.
Thanks Ken - that worked great!
Laurie

Does the "F" have to be in the value? If not, fill down your f9979 and set your Custom format as:

@"F"
