Hi guys wonder if you can help...
I have a user here who was working on an Excel File, she accidentaly saved over this file after deleting a large amount of data from it.

Is there any way I can restore the file from a few hours ago? i.e will there be a temporary file due to autosave anywhere???

Thanks in advance
Nick

thats what i thought she has actually SAVED it.

I have some powerfull software that can recover deleted files, but as i said in this case has hasnt deleted but saved over it after making incorrect changes...

yeah, that's where you problem lies, the file still exists but it exists with the changes on as you say.
Do you back up over night? tape, disk etc, etc
If so get yesterdays version? That's what I have to do all the time!!

Regards, Phil.

yes we do overnight backups, unfortunately this user had the file saved on her local machine as opposed to the server!

Phil thanks for your help anyway.

Nick
