Oh dear, what have I done?
I did some computer housekeeping, including a registry clean up and now Excel is playing up!

If I try to launch it from the desktop icon I first get a box saying "Please wait while Windows Installer configures Office professional edition 2003" Followed by a box saying "Fatal Error during cconfiguration"

I can launch it by clicking directly on the excel.exe file, however it still goes through the above routine every time, but without the Fatal Error at the end.

Even if I have Excel open, when I click on an excel file attachment in an Outlook email message it goes through the configuration routine and craches.

I have tried both re-install and repair from the CD but both bring up an error message and won't run.

Excel is 2003 with SP1, part of Office 2003.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I still have this problem.
Can anybody help please??

If you have Win XP try using a restore point to take you back in time to before you 'fixed' it.

Regards
Ken............
