If I click on column header and shorten the column width I notice that some columns will bleed the contents into the next column.

Other columns however don't bleed to the next column but simply truncate the contents.

I cannot seem to find out where that column attribute is managed.

By default it depends if the next column over has text in it or not. If its clear it will appear to flow over, if its occupied it will be hidden.

Ill take a look for other options for this that can be set though.

WJ, you're right, that's exactly what's happening, and it is a display-only feature (never affects the data). I have never found an option to override it.

Well that stinks, but your answer at least gave me a work around.

I inserted a new column, typed it as date then hid the new column.

I know it's sloppy but it stopped the flow over.

Thanks very much

sam

As an alternative you could format the last column (not the date column you created) so all the cells wrap text. Even if the row is not high enough to show the entire contents by wrapping, it will truncate the cell display in the way you want.

Thanks SPV that too is a nice alternative work around
