Is there a shortcut for changing text from lower to upper case in Excel?

I'm not looking for the UPPER function - I want to change the case of all text in all cells.

This would be like the option in Word - Format/Font/All caps

Thanks,

Stewart

Hi,

You have to use another cell (column, row, range or whatever) where you put converted cells.

formula for conversion is:

=UPPER(RANGE OF CELLS).

For example, to convert value in cell A5, click in blank cell (let's say B5) and type in: =UPPER(A1).

You can automatically fill in adjacent cells by dragging mouse down or right (or wherever).

Upon this, you can copy/paste converted values back to the desired location, instead of lowercase text.

Almir

StewartUK,

This is ugly, but it works. Copy the Excel sheet to a Word document. Select All (Control+A). Click Format / Change Case / Upper. Select All and copy back to Excel.

NOTE: Use Change Case, NOT Format / Font / All Caps, as that option only changes the appearance and not the case itself. If you use All Caps, when you copy back to Excel nothing will have changed (I just learned this on Tek-Tips this week!)

Hope this helps!
Tim
