Here in the Antipodes we show our dates as dd/mm/yy. I have a user who types 3/4/00 into a cell and the system reverses the date to 4/3/00. I have checked the properties on the Regional settings, which are correct for our country, and the date options in Excel. Under tools/ooptions/Calculation I have checked "1904" date system, but this hasn't helped. Anyway, the system refuses to save the change to "1904 date system".

any advice on how I can get Excel to cooperate?

Hi,

Had this a few times before.

The way I fixed it was to go to regional settings, change from your locale, to something else, say reboot.

The change back to your locale and reboot again, and this seemed to work. Looks to be something like windows refusing to accept any date other than US format???

Paul - thanks for your help. This seemed to work. Excel seemed to have a fixation about the US date format.
